This is our most recent addition to our heirloom beans. The Mortgage Lifter, also known as the Aztec or Pueblo Bean, is an extremely large, white bean that tastes similar to the butter bean. These beans have a rich, creamy consistency that works well in soups and casseroles.

The name came as a result of a farmer who was about to lose his land to the bank, but instead, had a good crop of these beans, which lifted his mortgage.
