After you've tried our ultra-rich, super-smooth cocoa, you can thank the Cunkle's son-in-law, Markus. An anthropologist working at Raven Site at the time, he suggested that they add a cocoa mix to the Kokopelli Kitchen product line. His expertise is on the mythologies of the indigenous peoples of the American Southwest and Meso-America.

The Cunkles wondered how a cocoa mix would fit in with products oriented toward the American Indians, the Mexican & Pioneer peoples. Markus happily explained the origins of cocoa in the southern hemisphere and its worldwide spread through trade. In his spare time Markus did the research on flavors and textures, and for many, many weeks the entire staff was included in cocoa tastings till they hit upon the winners.
