Arizona is home to the 21 federally recognized Indian Nations and Tribes listed below. Collectively, their ancient cultures and vast lands contribute to the rich cultural diversity of Arizona. According to the 2000 Census data, more than 250,000 Native Americans live in Arizona. Reservations and tribal communities comprise over a quarter of Arizona's lands.

Ak-Chin Indian Community
--21,000 acre reservation, located 30 miles south of Phoenix, AZ.
--Attractions include: Ak-Chin Him-Dak Eco Museum; Harrah's Ak-Chin Casino.

Cocopah Tribe
--6000 acre reservation south of Yuma, AZ on the Colorado River.
--Attractions include: Cocopah Museum & Cultural Center; Heritage Park; two ports of entry offer access to Mexico for shopping; Cocopah RV & Golf Resort; Cocopah Casino.

Colorado River Indian Tribes
--268,000 acre reservation spanning the Colorado River in Arizona & California. Approximately 225,000 acres of the reservation are in Arizona. Chemehurvi, Hopi, Mohave and Navajo tribes reside on the reservation, each with their own cultures and traditions.
--Attractions include: Ahakhav Tribal Preserve; Colorado River, Lake Mooralya & Lake Havasu (90 miles of shoreline offering water sports, hunting & fishing); Colorado River Indian Tribal Museum; Bluewater Resort & Casino.

Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation
--24,000 acres located in northeastern Maricopa County, approximately 23 miles northeast of Phoenix, AZ.
--Attractions include: Excellent hunting; We-Ko-Pa Golf Club; Fort McDowell Adventures; Fort McDowell Casino.

Fort Mojave Indian Tribe
--42,000 acre reservation in the tri-state area of Arizona, California & Nevada. Approximately 22,000 of these acres are in Arizona, running along 17 miles of the Colorado River in Mohave County just south of Bullhead City.
--Attractions include: Fort Mojave Mini Museum; Fort Mohave Cultural Center; Topock Marsh; Avi Resort & Casino; Spirit Mountain Casino.

Fort Yuma-Quechan Tribe
--44,000 acre reservation north of Yuma, AZ and spreading into California and Mexico.
--Attractions include: Fort Yuma-Quechan Museum; Quechan Artist's Marketplace; Paradise Casino.

Gila River Indian Community
--373,000 acre reservation, just south of Phoenix, AZ.
--Attractions include: Gila River Indian Center Arts & Crafts Center; Huhugam Heritage Center; Wild Horse Resort & Spa (including the Whirlwind Gold Club, Koli Equestrian Center & a 2� mile replica of the Gila River); Wild Horse Pass Casino; Lone Butte Casino; Vee Quiva Casino; the Casa Grande Ruins National Monument lies just southeast of the reservation.

Havasupai Tribe
--185,000 acre reservation on the South rim of the Grand Canyon.
--Attractions include: Havasu Creek boasting four waterfalls (Beaver, Havasu, Mooney & Navajo) with beautiful blue green water; Havasu Canyon; Havasu Lodge; Havasupai Museum of Culture.

The Hopi Tribe
--1.56 million acre reservation in northeastern Arizona.
--Attractions include: Hopi Museum; Hopi Cultural Center; guided tours of Walpi (at First Mesa); Hopi Arts & Crafts Center (at Second Mesa); Hopi Cooperative Silver Guild.

Hualapai Nation
--992,000 acre reservation along the West rim of the Grand Canyon.
--Attractions include: Grand Canyon River Runners; Grand Canyon West; big game hunting & fishing.

Kaibab Band of Palute Indians
--120,000 acre reservation on the Arizona/Utah border near Fredonia, AZ.
--Attractions include: Pipe Springs National Monument & Cultural Center; Kanab Creek; guided tours of Muuputs Canyon; Steamboat Rock; big game hunting; Zion & Bryce Canyon National Parks are an hour's drive north.

Navajo Nation
--14.7 million acre reservation in northeast Arizona and extending into New Mexico & Utah. Arizona's portion of the reservation covers 11.6 million acres.
--Attractions include: Monument Valley Tribal Park; Canyon de Chelly; Chaco Culture National Historic Park; Hubbell Trading Post; Navajo Nation Tribal Museum; Antelope Point Marina.

Pascua Yaqui Tribe
--900 acre reservation just southwest of Tucson, AZ.
--Attractions include: Yoemem Tekia Foundation Museum; Casino of the Sun; Casino del Sol; nearby are Saguaro National Monument, Sonoran Desert Museum, Mt. Lemmon, San Xavier del Bac Mission (the White Dove of the Desert) & Kitt Peak Observatory.

Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community
--53,000 acre reservation located 15 miles east of Phoenix, AZ.
--Attractions include: Hoo-hoogam Ki Museum; Talking Stick Golf Club; Cypress Golf Course; Red Mountain Trap & Skeet; Pavilions Shopping Center; Casino Arizona.

San Carlos Apache Tribe
--1.9 million acre reservation located 20 miles east of Globe, AZ.
--Attractions include: San Carlos Apache Cultural Center; Apache Stronghold Golf Course; rock hunting in Peridot; big game hunting & bass fishing; Apache Gold Casino & Resort.

San Juan Southern Palute
--The small tribe of approximately 300 members is the newest federally recognized Indian nation in the State of Arizona. The tribe currently has no land base and is residing in distinct communities on the Navajo reservation. Tribal headquarters are located in Tuba City, AZ.

Tohono O'odham Nation
--2.7 million acre reservation in south central Arizona.
--Attractions include: Baboquivari Mountain Park,; Kitt Peak & National Observatory; San Xavier del Bac Mission, the White Dove of the Desert; Tohono O'odham Nation Cultural Center & Museum; Gu-Achi Trading Post; Wiwplul Du'ag Trading Post; Desert Diamond Casino; Golden Hasan Casino.

Tonto Apache Tribe
--85 acre reservation adjacent to Payson, AZ; it is the smallest in the state.
--Attractions include: Mazatzal Casino; the Mazatzal Mountains & Mogollon Rim are short drives away.

White Mountain Apache Tribe
--1.6 million reservation in east central Arizona, situated in the heart of the White Mountains.
--Attractions include: White Mountains with the Salt River Canyon offer a multitude of outdoor activities including big game elk hunting & rainbow trout fishing; Fort Apache Historic Park (Fort Apache Cemetery, White Mountain Apache Cultural Center & Museum and a reconstructed traditional Apache village); Sunrise Park Ski Resort; Hon-Dah Resort & Casino; Kinishba Ruin (a National Historic Landmark) is a short drive away.

Yavapai-Apache Nation
--600 acre reservation in the Upper Verde Valley of central Arizona.
--Attractions include: Cliff Castle Casino & Lodge; within close proximity to the reservation are Montezuma Castle, Montezuma's Well & Tuzigoot National Monuments; also nearby are Sedona & its beautiful red rocks, the ghost mining town of Jerome and the Fort Verde State Park.

Yavapai Prescott Indian Tribe
--1400 acre reservation adjacent to Prescott, AZ.
--Attractions include: Bucky's Casino; Yavapai Casino; nearby are Mingus Mountain, and the landmarks Thumb Butte & Granite Mountain.
